National Museum in Sultan Park – Maldives

The National Museum in Sultan Park, Maldives is definitely a must-see for tourists who want a glimpse of the country’s beautiful past. It houses important historical artifacts that will give you a good look at the distant past of Maldives from the pre-Islamic times, all throughout the rule of Islamic monarchs, and down towards the modern-day.

Location and How to Get There

The National Museum is situated in Sultan Park, Male, a small garden that has been part of the Maldivian Royal Palace compound since the 17th century.
Since the museum (and the park!) is in the center of Maldivian tourism, getting there should never be a problem. The Sultan Park sits opposite the world famous Islamic Centre, which is so huge it hosted many important international events already. The park is located along Medhuziyaaraiy Magu street. You can take a taxi to get there.

What to See There

The National Museum in Sultan Park keeps a memorabilia that will best describe Maldives’ past. There are numerous artifacts on display, which range from ancient times’ stone objects to even pricey and pricelss possessions of the members of royalty.

The three-story structure that was used to house the artifacts is actually an old palace building that was converted to feature the cultural heritage of the country.
